The Zambia Metrology Agency (ZMA) Acting Executive Director, Dr. Eng. Michael Nsefu, yesterday attended the 2025 Chief Executive Officers’ Forum organized by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka.
Dr. Eng. Nsefu, who also serves as Chairperson of the ZMA Integrity Committee, joined other heads of public institutions at the high-level forum held under the theme “Fostering a Culture of Integrity: Setting the Tone from the Top.”
Speaking at the forum on behalf of the Secretary to the Cabinet, Mr. Patrick Kangwa, Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet Dr. Oliver Kalabo emphasized that the Integrity Committees Programme is a key government instrument demonstrating Zambia’s firm zero-tolerance stance on corruption and unethical conduct.
Dr. Kalabo noted that the success of the programme depends on the active involvement and commitment of Permanent Secretaries and Chief Executive Officers across all public institutions.
“The success of this programme requires the full support of every Permanent Secretary and Chief Executive Officer. It is no longer acceptable to merely delegate the responsibility of integrity. We must ensure that our own transactions, procurement processes, recruitment systems, and day-to-day decision-making are beyond reproach,” he said.
For the Zambia Metrology Agency, the Integrity Committee plays a critical role in promoting transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct in its operations. As an institution responsible for ensuring accuracy in measurements, standards, and quality assurance, ZMA’s credibility depends heavily on public trust. The Integrity Committee helps safeguard this trust by strengthening internal controls, preventing corruption risks, and ensuring compliance with laws, policies, and ethical standards.
By embedding integrity into its governance and operational processes, ZMA not only aligns with national anti-corruption efforts but also enhances service delivery, institutional credibility, and confidence among stakeholders in both the public and private sectors.
The forum provided an important platform for leaders to reaffirm their personal responsibility in setting ethical standards and fostering a culture of integrity from the top down across public institutions.
